Instrument Donation Program

Have an instrument gathering dust?ย Pass it on to change a life!

Musicopia’s GIFT OF MUSIC program collects playable instruments and related equipment, and places them in schools, in community organizations, and with students who are eager to play and are in need of an instrument. Musicopia also facilitates minor instrument repairs prior to placement, at no-cost to recipients.

Important:ย โ€‹Mostย of our drop-off locations cannot accommodate large instruments or bulk donations.ย Please call the drop-off location in advance to inform them of your intentions before dropping off any instruments.ย If they cannot accommodate, please emailย GOM@musicopia.netย to discuss other drop-off options.

We do not accept pianos, organs, accordions, kidย sizeย drum sets, sheet music, or badly damaged instruments, amongst other items.ย Please visit theย Donate anย Instrumentย page for a full list of accepted instruments and equipment.

Tell us about your donation!

Every instrument has a story. If you would like to tell us a bit about your instrument and why you chose to donate, pleaseย write us a note!ย Take a selfie while holding it and tag us on social media, attach the note to your instrument, or emailย GOM@musicopia.net.

Considerations

The IRS does not allow Musicopia to estimate the value of donated instruments, accessories or supplies. Donors are responsible for estimating the value of the donations. If verification is needed for tax purposes, please contact a qualified musical instrument appraiser BEFORE donating.

Some donations may not meet our quality or condition standards or are inappropriate for education purposes and may be sold with 100% of the proceeds being used to offset the cost of repairing instruments or purchasing new ones.

Testemonials

โ€œEver since I was little I have always had a desire to learn to play drums. Now that I have my own set, I can begin practicing for my future. I plan to attend a college with a strong music program. After college, I plan to be the leader of and/or manage my own band, and if possible, have my own record label. I have always wanted a drum set of my own. Because of this generous donation, I now can practice what I have long desired to play.โ€

"I play the clarinet and I am in 4th grade I like playing my instrument because itโ€™s like a whole other world. I would like to thank you, for making one of my wishes come true!"

"Music to me is important because it just flows in my blood. Thank you for the instruments. You made me become more interested in playing and I like it."

"Thank you so much for generously providing me with an instrument. Ever since I started playing tuba, I used the schoolโ€™s instrument. But it is even better to have your own โ€“ you have done that for me. Again, I thank you and I am grateful that such a thing was possible in such hard times."
