About Us

When children, youth, and communities lack access to arts programming, they lose far more than music and dance experiences. They lose vital opportunities to build confidence, dedication, teamwork, and joy. Musicopia was founded in response to that loss.

For more than 50 years, Musicopia has created inclusive, collaborative spaces for learning and expression through music and dance. Rooted in cultural diversity and community connection, our work nurtures growth, creativity, and belonging.

Our programs are designed to:

  • Reflect the cultures, traditions, and identities of the communities we serve
  • Remove barriers by bringing programs directly into communities
  • Invest in young people in ways that build belonging, agency, and longโ€‘term pathways to success

Today, we reach more than 25,000 participants each year across three states and 21 school districts through a wide range of programs.

Guided by an unwavering belief that the arts should be accessible to all, we remain committed to creating opportunities that shape and empower the next generation. That belief is reflected in our work with schools and communities every day.

Mission

Musicopiaโ€™s mission is to inspire, educate, and connect children, youth, and their extended communities through collaborative music and dance experiences.

Vision

Musicopia envisions shaping and empowering the next generation through equitable access to the arts: cultivating lifelong creative expression, confidence, collaboration, multicultural understanding, and joy.ย

Values

Our work is guided and informed by our belief in and commitment to our values which are to:โ€‹

  • Provide pathways to the arts
  • Inspireย learning through the arts
  • Championย cultural and human diversity
  • Promoteย the development of self-efficacy
  • Createย environments of mutual respect, well-being, and belonging
  • Supportย participants in finding safe spaces for self-expression
  • Enrichย the communities in which our participants live and thrive

Since its founding fifty years ago, Musicopia has maintained a steadfast commitment to creating access to the arts for all, regardless of circumstance.
